HDR Remodeling, a full service residential Design + Build Remodeling Firm, hosted a Lunch & Learn Thursday, September 7th on Planning for Your Next Remodel. In addition to helping homeowners in Berkeley and the East Bay Area achieve their remodeling dreams for the past 30+ years, HDR Remodeling provides educational resources and learning opportunities for the community at large.
Ana Mathys, an NKBA certified Associate Kitchen & Bath Designer hosts this Lunch & Learn event on behalf of the firm. The seminar covers everything a homeowner needs to know to prepare for their home remodeling project. Broken into five stages, Ana covers the approach HDR Remodeling takes, and recommends homeowners follow, to make their next remodeling project run as smoothly as possible.
Home Remodel Stage 1: Inspiration
Ana walks you through a creative exercise to help establish a well prioritized wish list for your remodeling project. She also provides insight on where to look for inspiration on your remodeling project, the best way to gather inspiration photos to share with your designer, and how to realistically plan your initial budget according to your wish list.
Home Remodel Stage 2: Consultation
Ana covers the scope, timeline and budget of a home remodeling project in this stage. She discusses how you should allocate your time to complete your project by a given date, along with how to prepare to meet with a Design + Build Firm.

Home Remodel Stage 3: Design
This is the fun part of the remodeling project.
During the Design stage you will be presented with design concept packages custom made for you by the HDR Remodeling Design team based on your wish list and photos from the inspiration stage of the project. Each package will include a set of plans and drawings and a product selections package including all fixtures and finishes needed to complete the home renovation project.
A quality Design + Build Firm will also take care of the tedious work like estimates and permitting.
Home Remodel Stage 4: Build
The Build stage is the most stressful for many homeowners, but Ana walks you through what to expect and how to ensure this stage contains less stress and fewer surprises. She provides tips to get you through the emotional rollercoaster that is the demolition and construction of your home remodel. Ana also provides solutions to some of the most common problems faced by clients while their home is under construction.
Home Remodel Stage 5: Completion
Once your remodeling project is complete, you get to share it with the world!
HDR Remodeling will bring out a professional photographer to capture the final product of your home renovation. These photos are used when submitting for awards within the industry, but are also a final gift to the client at the end of the project. The HDR Remodeling Design + Build team members have won numerous awards for their residential remodeling projects, something the firm takes great pride in.
