Preserving a grandfather's legacy while creating a kitchen that's unmistakably personal

More than 100 years ago, a Berkeley homeowner built this house by hand. Today, his granddaughter and her family still call it home. Over the decades, the house evolved alongside the family. Additions were made, memories were created, and generations grew up within its wood-clad walls. So when the current homeowners decided to remodel the kitchen, the goal wasn’t simply to create a more functional space. It was to honor the craftsmanship and character of the original home while making it feel unmistakably theirs.

They had a vision that was distinctly their own: soft blush cabinetry, warm materials, and a kitchen that felt joyful and welcoming while still fitting naturally within the character of a century-old house.
