Virginia Berkeley Kitchen
BACKGROUND & DESIGN SOLUTIONS
See this Berkeley home’s downstairs kitchen remodel.
This project marked our second collaboration with the family, this time transforming the upstairs kitchen in their Berkeley home. Building on the trust and success of the first kitchen remodel, we brought back the same Architect and Project Managers to ensure continuity and efficiency.
The goal of this kitchen remodel was to modernize an outdated space with a lighter palette while preserving the warmth of natural wood.
Custom cabinetry played a central role, offering full-height storage, a seamless under-cabinet valence, and unique drawer configurations tailored to the client’s needs. HDR Remodeling delivered a clean, sleek aesthetic that balanced craftsman charm with modern lines.
Key construction challenges included leveling the uneven floor and ceiling, which required full reframing. The galley layout and narrow footprint demanded precise coordination—made possible through our design-build approach. The Project Manager’s onsite adjustments and Design Team’s collaborative and detailed planning ensured a refined fit and finish, even in tight corners.
Notable features include Fireclay Tile Manzanita Satin backsplash, a Grohe pull down kitchen faucet (including a composting feature), and flush-mounted under-cabinet lighting for a streamlined look. The result is a highly customized, transitional kitchen that reflects the client’s vision and the enduring partnership we’ve built with the family.
