2013 CoTY Award Winner

Our challenge was to take a cramped outdated El Cerrito bathroom design and make it more formal and exotic. The clients travel extensively and found this particular tile in Turkey and asked HDR to remodel one of their bathrooms around this fabulous blue tile. We came up with a modified floor plan that relocated the toilet, opened up the space, and incorporated the Turkish tile to create a beautiful custom design. 

Background

The client came to us with the goal of remodeling a heavily-used family bathroom that is shared by two adults and two children. The client had recently purchased decorative tiles while traveling in Turkey which became the starting point for the design of the new bathroom. The homeowner was working with a modest budget and wanted to maximize the bang for their buck.  They wanted the bathroom to have pizzazz and make every investment count.
