Virginia Home Remodel
HDR Remodeling tackled the full interior renovation of this 2500 square feet 1926 Berkeley home that included a kitchen remodel, a new bathroom addition, and a redesign of their side yard on the main level of the home. The upper level of this Berkeley home remodel consisted of a new master bathroom addition in the master bedroom as well as transforming two separate smaller bathrooms into one large bathroom remodel. Lastly, the bedrooms received a facelift and extra square footage by merging an unused study into the existing bedroom floorplan.
Kitchen Remodel
The kitchen was the first priority in this client’s home renovation. Our client requested a light and airy kitchen, lots of countertop space, and open storage. HDR Remodeling delivered with fresh cabinets crafted by local supplier Precision Cabinets and thick L-shaped floating shelves. Our clients brought the kitchen countertop, a traditional gray Soapstone and HDR Remodeling completed the look with a touch of color to the backsplash, using morning dew gloss tiles by Ann Sacks.
The built-in breakfast nook completed the kitchen remodel with a cushion seating area for family comfort and enjoyment. The morning sun pours into the breakfast nook to compliment each morning’s breakfast.
Master Bathroom Remodel
The upper level of this Berkeley home remodel consisted of a new master bathroom addition in the master bedroom. The Ice Grey bathroom sink cabinets from Kohler are set in a Carrera marble countertop slab and the accompanying shower walls are tiled in Clear Sea City Glass in a vertical offset subway pattern.
HDR Remodeling removed a bathtub in the lower level bathroom remodel and moved it upstairs. The Fireclay Cypress tiles on the floor were hand painted in Navy Blue Gloss and Blue Velvet to create a truly unique design.
Upstairs, we combined two small bathrooms into one large shared bath allowing us to reuse the existing bathtub that previously resided downstairs for almost 100 years. The bathroom vanity from Touro and the matching floating shelves made of reclaimed oak create a natural and modern look for this Berkeley guest bathroom.

Before
One of the real treats of this Berkeley home remodel was being able to save and refinish the dressing table where it originally sat in the second floor window recess of this bedroom remodel. HDR Remodeling worked with it’s partner of many years, Ortzow Painting in Oakland, to bring back the beauty and utility of this small table.
