“HDR's staff are great problem-solvers. As with any old house, once we opened up the walls, we encountered all kinds of issues we hadn't anticipated. HDR's solutions were always elegant and cost-effective. Additionally, their carpenters and sub-contractors did beautiful work - the drywall, framing, tiles, wood floors, you name it, the work was gorgeous. Every step of the way, we knew exactly where we were in the project.”

HDR Remodeling tackled the renovation of this 1926 Berkeley home that included a kitchen remodel with new access from the kitchen to the side yard of the home.

The kitchen was the first priority in this client’s home renovation and was very much in need of an upgrade. Our client requested a space with a light and airy feel, lots of countertop space, and open storage. HDR Remodeling accomplished the client’s goals by replacing existing cabinets with super white painted solid maple slab Brentwood style shaker frameless cabinets crafted by local supplier Precision Cabinets and thick L-shaped floating shelves. Our clients brought the kitchen countertop, a classic gray Soapstone with occasional white veining from the Baroque inspired Mariana region of Brazil. A splash of color was added with 3x3 Metro Nuovo morning dew gloss tiles by Ann Sacks giving the kitchen a soft touch.

The built-in breakfast nook completed the homey feel of this kitchen remodel, bringing the family together with an eat-in kitchen table. The cushion seating area with decorative pillows sets a wonderful stage for family enjoyment. The morning sun pours into the breakfast nook to compliment each morning’s breakfast.
