Montgomery Berkeley Kitchen

BACKGROUND & DESIGN SOLUTIONS

Our clients wanted their Berkeley kitchen remodel to maintain the traditional, timeless style of the rest of their home, while also incorporating their love of bold and playful tile patterns.

The original L-shaped kitchen was small and limited. Typically, kitchen remodels incorporate islands for more workable space, however, the existing island prevented the opposite kitchen wall from being utilized and was dominated by the cooktop, limiting its usefulness. HDR Remodeling improved the kitchen functionality by eliminating the island, consolidating the tall cabinetry and refrigerator, and creating several working areas with more counter space. The stove range sits at the center of the counter as a focal element of the kitchen.

Our playful take on the stove’s backsplash arranges small diamond Fireclay tiles in the color Flagstone in a tessellated mosaic pattern. The tile patterns not only adds a pop of color but also adds a twist to the classic aesthetic. We created accent stars, utilizing contrasting Mist and Flagstone colored tiles, as featured in Fireclay Tile, behind the range. Bright white kitchen cabinets added an open and airy feel to the kitchen.
