Three Projects, Three Awards, and Three Labors of Love

Details of the Projects That Solidified Our NARI Contractor of the Year Awards

HDR Remodeling couldn’t be more thrilled to win the Regional Contractor of the Year award from the National Association of the Remodeling Industry (NARI) in three categories: Residential Interior, Residential Kitchen, and Residential Bath. These regional awards put us in the running for NARI’s prestigious national award. Our team is filled with gratitude as these projects were truly labors of love for all involved.

As the saying goes, “When you love what you do, it doesn’t feel like work.” It’s even more gratifying when you can stand back and admire the finished product with clients who have transformed their home to make it uniquely theirs.

Each home remodeling project presented specific challenges that our team was able to conquer. We’ve shared a bit about each remodel below.

After we remodeled the upper level of their home, one of our most valued return clients came to HDR Remodeling seeking to blend the Craftsman details and beautiful woodwork we provided upstairs throughout the lower level. Cluttered and outdated, this three-room area (family room, bedroom, and bathroom) was mismatched with the woodsy and whimsical appeal of the rest of the home.

New challenges presented themselves throughout the project—including an awkward horizontal chase along one wall—but our team had the vision to develop satisfying solutions. The chase was transformed into a rustic wood bench and reading nook, while style met functionality in the nature-themed bathroom transformation. Our clients were thrilled that their desires for privacy, charm, and open space were achieved to create the home they’ve always dreamt of.

In the end, HDR Remodeling:

  • Created an additional bedroom within the home’s existing footprint

  • Upgraded the existing lower level bedroom and bath

  • Found innovative solutions for the new bedroom to provide privacy without closing it off completely from the family and media room

Another return client asked us to transform her only bathroom into a spa retreat and we were thrilled to oblige. She'd spent years sharing the small space with her boys—the last of whom had just moved out. When our Design team first asked how she envisioned her new space, without a second’s hesitation, she replied, “I want it to sparkle.”

With a gleam in our collective eye, we set about designing the radiant room she deserved. The only problem was the space was extremely cramped and lacked sufficient storage. In fact, our client had been using a side table as makeshift storage for her toiletries due to minimal counter space.

HDR Remodeling completely restructured the bathroom and maximized the renovations to make it feel more spacious. By using a stunning iridescent tile on the shower walls, we were able to give her the sparkle she so desired. Our team managed to leave our client with the following:

  • A bathroom with a more feminine and relaxing spa-like vibe

  • A larger and more functional room that kept within the footprint of the original bathroom and an adjoining closet

  • A bright and clean space with creative storage and counter space

Patience paid off for these clients, as they had come to us several years ago with a desire to remodel their kitchen, but decided to wait until they could spend a bit more to make the space exactly what they wanted. Our team was ecstatic when we got the green light to make their dream kitchen a reality.

These clients gave us a lot of fun, albeit quirky, directions for the project. They wanted the room to match their personalities, allow for large social gatherings, and to include details inspired by one of their favorite tea shops in town. While some remodeling companies dread such directives, our Design team joyfully ran with it.

Our team was able to:

  • Design a space, combining edgy industrial materials with natural materials for warmth, that matched our clients’ personalities and aesthetic preferences

  • Incorporate open cubbies that allow for easy access to favorite cooking essentials as well as provide a stunning display for collectibles

  • Highlight the kitchen’s natural elements through the maple cabinetry’s Baltic core plywood edges and honed black granite countertops, finished with a raw edge

  • Design cabinetry with plenty of practical storage to keep counters clutter free

All three of these projects are a source of immense pride for our HDR Remodeling team, as are our three NARI awards. We strive everyday to maintain the award-winning quality of our work and relish the opportunity to help you create your award-winning dream remodel.
